Designing a book-jacket

One of my favouite authors....if not THE FAVOURITE author, Mr.Paulo Coehlo wrote a book called " The Devil and Miss Prym". It is a novel of temptation, greed, fear and cowardice and the main characters indecisiveness about her choice to be good or evil? The color of greed is green, it would be a strong green if it is a confident choice in beeing greedy, but miss Prym in this book reflects and contemplates and cannot make up her mind at first, hence why i chose to go with more muted tints of green and yellowish green for the base color. I created my own illustration in the same mood, with muted tones and lots of greenish variations in color to communicate the same indecisiveness. And the misty weather in the illustration shows the " fog" in her mind. For the title i chose a sans-serif font and a script font. At first i recieved critic for the mixing these two fonts togheter, but i stuck with it. The reason being that i love the movement in the script font. It shows something in motion, something that is fast....like the main characters thoughts tha are keeping her sleeless at night. I am happy with this book jacket, and hopefully i will create more in the future for myself and others. This is fun. If you havent read this book, go ahead and read it... if you havent read any of Paulo Coelhos books, i suggest you introduce yourself to his first masterpiece: "The Alchemist". Great,

My first character is coming to life...

...and this is what she looks like. Little warrior goddess. Strong little spirit who fights for the good in whatever situation the author places her :) I say no more, but i hope to write a childrens book about this one some day soon. I am looking forward to the lecture with Jillian Kessleman, childrens book illustrator and professor at University of the Arts in Philadelphia. We are inviting her to the college i am currently enrolled in. Will be inspiring for "My words, my illustrations, my publications". One day, in a book store near you haha! Liqurice bowl! Yum!

My own, hand-made, bowl. For those of you who know me, you know i am a liqurice lover, so of course, this bowl i had to dedicate to my liqurice indulging moments haha. When the clay is still wet but almost leather hard ( after about a week or so), it is time to paint the piece. I started out by painting it turqouise inside, and liqurice black outside. I also added a little text inside the bowl sayig " LAKRITS" which is the Swedish word for liqurice. First i printed out the word from a computer, cut the letters out with an exacto knife. Then I put the piece of paper in a bowl of water and let it soak for a little bit, so it would stick to the clay. When it was attached to the clay i simply brushed over it 3 -5 times with black color. A few minutes to dry and voila, its officially my liqurice bowl. It will now be in the keln for 3 days, then it is ready to be dipped in clear glaze, which will give it that porcelain look. Then it needs to be fired again for 3 days, and then it is ready for use. Pottery takes way longer than one would think. Alittle bowl like this takes about 3 weeks to a month from start to finish. Thank you for taking a look at my blogg. Have a good day!

"Turnaround"

This is the first so called " Turnaround" that i have attempted. A turn around is a drawing practice to draw one pose from four different angles. One front, one back, one side and one 45 degrees angle. This image i drew from a 3D image that could rotate. It is a great task and practice to strenghten ones observational skills as well as hand-eye coordination. I want to illustrate childrens book still, or write my own childrens books. It is needed. ( not that this image has anything to do with childrens books, but my style is simple and childish in a good way) I have ideas on books and stories i would like to put my own twist on. Hmm...when i have time, i will go for it! :) Oh yesss.But enjoy this image for now. Thank you for stopping by my blogg :)

Bells were ringing....

...and the lovebirds singing! MeiVisions shot the first wedding in september this year. Good friends of mines sealed the deal and it was wonderful to witness ;) Shooting weddings is alot of responsibility for a photographer, one really has to make sure to catch each and every moment. Usually there is more than one photographer on the project, but this time i was handeling the part myself. Here are three images of the couple that i really like. Cant you smell the love?

Turned Sweden into Africa for a moment...

MeiVisions Photography had a magic summer day in August together with the dancers Niki Tsappos and Martha Nawbire from the Soulsweat Dance Crew. We turned Sweden into Africa for an instant. Tora Mårtens a videographer, who is currently shooting a real nice documentary on these two fierce ladies, had recently been in Tanzania and brought with her some goodies in forms of fabrics and beads, beads and more beads. She was shooting for the cover of her documentary while i was shooting press and personal images. The adorable, super humble and beautiful inside-out Theresa Gustavsson contributed to this shoot with her hair styling and braiding skills. Her work is neat! We got up early morning, ate a swedish breakfast ( egg and caviar on a tube) and headed out for the closest beach in the neighbourhood....yeh its actually in the neighbourhood, in a suburb beside a little lake. "Flaten badet" so swedish as can be. Sooo cosy. To our great surprise we had the beach to ourselves, and i didnt have to worry about strangers posing in the background...puh! The sun was out, the clouds were out, the light kept changing on us and i had to be quick in my manual mode to get the exposure i wanted. As when i first bought a professional camera in 2008: the natural light kept pleasing me alot this day. The sun - we adore! Yepp. Here are some of my favourites images.
