Compass of thoughts...

Here is a relief print i made as a multiblock on pine wood. I went for a super simple design that i saw on a bag, that i choose to print on a pine-wood block. This is made out of 3 blocks + handwriting with speedball ink ( not the easietst thing to write on the ruff texture of a print ) This design came out unsolid, but that is what happens when u try to print on wood. The wood absorbs alot of the ink. The message is from Buddha, and i love it. Was he a methaphysician? He said: " What we think, we become". You know he was right. Mind over matter, the law of attraction, what we think-we become...What am i trying to say? - Check your thoughts and beliefs since they are the compass of energy guiding the direction on your journey in life! Blessings to you from me. Enjoy your xmas holidays!

Etchings

.... So here is my first attempt in etching. The process is so much fun: you start by scribing out the design on a zink metal plate, then you bite it in acid, rub the ink on it, prepare the wet paper and run it through the press one time. This way u dont have to actually re-do the design if you want more of them, you dont have to draw it every time. Instead- with an etching - you have the design ready on a " template", for you to re-ink and press at anytime. This is one of the techniques of printmaking. I call these " Rastababy" ( as seen on clothing ) and " Michael" the one and only king of pop. Enjoy it people! Enjoy!

Sweet photography session.....oh yes!

I had an absolutely amazing photoshoot last week end. I was doing a collaboration with the swedish stylist Karolina Brock. She was in New York for a business trip ( she freelance write for fashion mag: Plaza) I am so happy that we got to link up and put our creative minds togheter. She is amazing at her craft, truly unique. The way she puts an outfit togheter is for me, super inspiring. This outfit was wicked. But don't even think about wanting those funky pants, unless yuh are willing to pay $300 on SALE :S what can i say: Emilio Puchi is not kidding when it comes to his fashion. LoL. Model this time was the stunning Lizbeth DeJesus, who knows how to werk the camera. Liz brought with her the talented make up artist Tianna Aniquia, who came and did her magic despite short notice. Big ups to her, she does great work. Check out the samples folks. Sweet like swedish candy!

"Broken Pieces"

There are definitely times in life where i have given up on myself. That shayt hurts....forever. But life goes on and there is always another chance for us to pick up the broken pieces and put them togheter, the pieces left behind in another space and time...#Listen to the goodness withing and heal yuhrself#

This is my first created sculpture made of plaster and wood. The idea was to create a non-objective sculpture built of a minimum of three individual pieces and the goal was to create an interesting negative space (the areas in between- and around the pieces). I had alot of fun in the making of this sculpture, with the new( for me) material. After creating a mess-this is how it came out. It's called " Broken pieces" ...... Have a long look at it, let it speak to yuh and feel what it means to yuh! Blessings

Dancing in Benin, Africa

This is a backstage video (!) clip of me and my dancepartners background dancing for the artist Mohombi(fr. group Avalon). Their manager flew me, Melpo and Jacqueline down to Benin, Africa, where we stayed durign the KORA awards in 2008. It was truly a blessing to visit Benin, see the culture, the people, the nature and eat some of the food they eat there. I never got my luggage ( connection flights! think it was stuck in paris) so luckily Melpo and Jacqie hooked me up and we ended up looking all right for stage. We had rehearsed for one song-one number, but when we met the founders of the award-show, the day before the actual performance, we were asked to performe to - not one song -but three. Surprised- we went to coregraph the rest, we had the rest of that day to get the new dances IN too our muscular memory, set the formations and work it out on the stage the very next day. I had a blast. Loved this experience. Thankful for it. Today Mohombi is signed with Akon and his music is commercially played all over the world. Melpo is taking on her singing career as a dancehall artist- watch out for her in the near future, and Jacquie is teaching and spreading the love for the dancehall culture back in Stockholm, Sweden with her crew Enough. Well, this is how it turned out yall. Enjoy it! :)

More printmaking...

...i am really "in like" with printmaking. It is an amazing process, and i get to work with my hands. Which is a nyce change from all computerized work. Good ole craftwork in process (old skool we like). Pablo Picasso, the wonder painter, created this artprint which i like a lot.It is called, simply, " Woman with a Flowered Hat" It contains different texture, and an interesting variety of lines and patterns. I am fascinated by the way that he chooses what should be white, grey and what should be black. Inspired by his work, i wanted to make a face also. So i cut this design out of a block of pine wood. It is a self-portrait in its absolutely simplest form. Does it look like me? LoL I do think so. Sometimes i like the actual blocks more then the prints themselves. When lit nicely, they convey beautiful shadows and contrast in the design.Cozy!

" Peacock"

This is one of the solid artprints from my peacock design. It took me hours to carve the linoblock. I mostly used the knife tool. Title: "Peacock", Speedball ink on 5*7 linoleum block, on reg. sketch paper.

Artprint: "casette tape"

Printmaking is an ancient japanese art form, where you cut your art out of a wood block, or a linoblock. This is my first attempt in so doing. Started out slowly, but surely, on a beginner EZ-cut block. Titel: " Casette Tape" Speedball Ink on EZ-cut block, sketch paper.

Who are we?

Last summer (09 ) in New York City, i was chillen with my Senegalese sister Khoudia. I captured her beautiful warm smile in these shots, this was close to her apartement in Union Square. I had so much fun with that girl that summer ( much love to yuh girl )Summer full of inspiration, dance and party times. New york, new york...

New Jersey cornfields....

I was experiencing the beautiful sweet corn fields that New Jersey is known for, with my Malaysian friend Melanie Ng. I always drive past these incredible huge open fields, but i never get to really walk in them since that would be considered trespassing (!) But this day with my Nikon D80 in hand, i snapped some shots of her beauty. Red, yellow, green and serene :)

Beautiful Sisters from Trenton

I have been very busy with school, to the point where my camera has been collecting dust in the bag. But i finally got in to the studio again, with great inspiration from two young ladies from Trenton. Miss Yvonne Clark and her sister Crystal Torres. Yvonne is an art student who take some of the art courses i am enrolled in at this moment in time. This was her first photo shoot- EVER! She did great, they both did- have a look!

The invisible now

This is an art piece i created in photoshop. I like to call it: " The invisable now". Lost in the past , or longing for the future...a state when the present turns invisible and we forget to live to the fullest, in the moment, right now. Be aware! Be aware of your beliefs, for they do control your emotions and your thoughts. Check your focus, if you feel stuck you have an ostacle to overcome or just need to refocus your energy in a different direction...be aware of the path you are walking on in life. Make sure that you are making fresh footprints on YOUR journey. Dont follow others' footprints. Keep thy creativity fresh! Dare to become who you all ready are!!! Become your own master in allowing the true essence of your spirit to flourish freely. The transformation lies within you! Nurture and love the process of every moment!

The art of dance, in full effect!

Last week-end the fourth annual celebration of the art of dance and the passion for the music culture was going down in New York City. It was time for HDI 2010. A lot of dancers came to participate in the battle from all over the world. It was truly inspiring to see such mature, respectful and humble dancers expressing their stories from their heart...some even moved me to tears. Wacking ( winner : princess Lockeroo ), Voguing ( winner: Leyomi), Experimental ( winner: Future) and House ( winner: Mamson)! Thank you all for a great last day, the day of all final battles- it was very inspiring. Big up to the founders Santiago Freeman, Ejoe Wilson, and Redness Kim Hayes for making it happen. More images to be seen on Mei Visions facebook, and some will be published in the dance magazine i work for over seas danstidningen.se ( link: ' Utblick' ) Check it out!
